Mat Pilates is widely recognised as one of the world’s most effective low-impact exercises. Mat is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, including those returning from injury and pregnancy. Reform Studios Mat Pilates classes are quite different to the larger group classes you may have experienced at the gym or local hall.
Our beautiful studio is air-conditioned and beautifully appointed. Class sizes are kept small so you get the utmost of attention from our specialist instructors; and our programmes are carefully designed and approved by our physiotherapist.
Our mission is to help you get strong, regain your vitality and find your happy place to exercise...
Are you ready to reclaim your core, strengthen your entire body and ease your pain through movement?
After turning 30 with chronic back pain and an exercise regime of exactly 0, I decided to finally to do something, and started pilates with the wonderful people at Reform. I am horrible at keeping up with any kind of resolution, but it's been a year so far and even though I couldn't even get through my first class without turning to jelly, I'm stronger, more active and more pain-free than I was 10 years ago. The classes are inclusive for all ages and fitness levels, and there is freedom to adapt the exercises to what you can handle. Although it's a class of 10+ people, it can be personally tailored to your needs - noone gets left behind and noone feels like they are being held back. It's all about technique and isolating specific muscles, and working with you towards your goals in an achievable way. Leigh is always happy to give 1 on 1 advice after class if something isn't working, or what to try at home. Plus they are all very lovely people who genuinely care and motivate you.
Hubby and I are in our sixties and our bodies are "broken" from various health issues including heart disease and the big C plus we are both carrying those extra kilos that are so hard to get off at our age. Even getting up off the floor is not easy now! After doing the free introductory class at the Reform Studios we decided to give it a go. Exercising lying down sounded pretty good to me as I dislike all forms of exercise! The studio itself is lovely (no gym smell here). There is a lot of positive encouragement and reinforcement from the friendly staff. There is also plenty of "one on one" as you learn the ropes to ensure you are doing everything correctly and safely (even helping me put my feet in the straps when I can't reach them - thanks Scott!). We are very happy we decided to join Reform Studios as we feel so much better both physically and mentally. Thanks so much to Scott, Leigh and Emma for making us feel that despite our various health issues (and aversion to lycra) that we "fit in". So if you are looking for somewhere to exercise but are unsure of what Reformer Pilates is all about please try a free introductory session, it might surprise you as it did us.
"I suffer with arthritis and fibromyalgia and experience severe joint and muscle pain my body was weak and I struggled just to climb stairs. My friend Cathy suggested I come meet Scott and the team. So last July I started personal classes with Leigh on a weekly basis. Leigh has been patient, caring and tough on me. I haven’t missed a class yet and continue to get stronger and more confident every week. The staff of Reform Studios genuinely care and have made a difference in my day to day life. I would highly recommend them."
"I started at Reform Studios a couple of months ago after being unable to exercise properly for 6 years following a knee injury. Even a 30 minute slow walk used to leave me in pain and lame the next day. However after just a couple of months at Reform Studios I am feeling stronger and fitter than I have in years and can now walk pain free. Each of the instructors takes a personal interest in any injuries you have and how your body is at that session. It’s great exercise and even better rehabilitation. I can’t speak highly enough of the entire team!"
